We all know that Microsoft is one of the most vulnerable operating systems that will ever grace this fine earth. Granted it has gotten overwhelminly better since the release of Windows 7, but yet every month we see at least 10+ security updates and as long as it continues to be the dominating platform, than it will continue to be plagued with Malware, Viruses and Rootkits.

Many companies have benefited from Microsoft’s demise. Symantec, McAfee, AVG, Counterspy, Malwarebytes and many others have all release premium products to help in removal of all of the nasties infecting our world today. Even Microsoft has released some of their own products for protection, but none quite to the extreme as their own offline utility, System Sweeper.

System Sweeper is a 32/64bit offline Rootkit/Malware Scanning utility that claims to clean-up any nasty products that might be preventing a machine from booting up properly and trust me when I say there are plenty.

The product is still in Beta, but a simple ISO download that you burn to CD can then be booted up in your Windows machine and scanning your machine within minutes. I heard about this on a recent Security Now Podcast, and knew immediately that I had to write about it.

It’s amazing that many of us in the tech world haven’t heard about it sooner. Go try it out yourself on your own machine and just make sure that you’re not infected with anything.
